Plant Maintenance Manager oversees the plans for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Plant Maintenance Manager leads inspection to ensure an effective preventative maintenance procedure and framework. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Plant Maintenance Manager utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Manages spare parts inventory to ensure the availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Plant Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions.
