Plant Maintenance Manager oversees the plans for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Plant Maintenance Manager leads inspection to ensure an effective preventative maintenance procedure and framework. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Plant Maintenance Manager utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Manages spare parts inventory to ensure the availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Plant Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Plant Maintenance Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     POSITION SUMMARY:  The Director of Operations in a manufacturing company is instrumental in ensuring the efficiency, quality, and profitability of the manufacturing processes. This role requires a combination of strategic vision, operational expertise, and strong leadership capabilities.      

     

    MAJOR DUTIES:

    1. Manufacturing Strategy:
      • Develop and implement a comprehensive manufacturing strategy aligned with the company's overall business objectives.
      • Ensure the efficient utilization of resources to meet production targets and quality standards.
    2. Production Planning and Scheduling:
      • Oversee production planning and scheduling to meet customer demand while minimizing lead times and optimizing production efficiency.
      • Collaborate with sales and marketing teams to forecast demand and align production accordingly.
    3. Quality Assurance:
      • Establish and enforce quality control standards to ensure that products meet or exceed customer expectations.
      • Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and manufacturing processes.
    4. Operational Efficiency:
      • Streamline manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and reduce production costs.
      • Implement lean manufacturing principles and other best practices to optimize operations.
    5. Safety and Compliance:
      • Develop and enforce safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment for all manufacturing personnel.
      • Ensure compliance with industry regulations, environmental standards, and health and safety guidelines.
    6. Equipment and Technology:
      • Evaluate and implement new technologies and equipment to enhance manufacturing capabilities.
      • Oversee maintenance programs to ensure the reliability of machinery and equipment.
    7. Budget Management:
      • Collaborate with finance to develop and manage the manufacturing budget.
      • Monitor and control manufacturing expenses to ensure financial objectives are met.
    8. Team Leadership:
      • Provide strong leadership to the manufacturing team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and accountability.
      • Recruit, train, and develop a high-performing manufacturing team.

    Qualifications


    • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field
    • Extensive experience in manufacturing operations management, with a track record of success.
    • In-depth knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and best practices.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Familiarity with industry regulations and compliance standards.
    • Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a manufacturing environment.

     

    PHYSICAL REQUREMENTS:  Must have ability to effectively access all work areas of responsibility. Must have sufficient agility to observe all processes and product features including confined spaces and unusual accesses.
