Plant Maintenance Manager oversees the plans for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Plant Maintenance Manager leads inspection to ensure an effective preventative maintenance procedure and framework. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Plant Maintenance Manager utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Manages spare parts inventory to ensure the availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Plant Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. To be a Plant Maintenance Manager typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. Thorough knowledge of functional area and department processes.     How You'll Perform the Role

    The Plant Engineering & Maintenance Manager will establish, sustain, and lead our engineering and maintenance functions, teams, and programs at this new recycling facility. This resource will play a key role in developing manufacturing processes, lead the startup and operations of the facility. They will also analyze and make recommendations and then implement improvements to designs, processes, tooling, equipment, quality, and standards while sustaining machinery and equipment through preventive, routine, and urgent maintenance.

    This position will report to the Plant Manager and will lead a team of engineering and maintenance resources.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Acts as the site leader and liaison for all engineering and maintenance items
    • Leads the engineering and maintenance teams, ensuring the team's daily efforts and projects align to the priorities of the plant enabling us to meet customer commitments
    • Manages all maintenance related programs, including preventive maintenance, capital projects, replacement parts, and techniques and methods to improve machine uptime
    • Develops annual maintenance and equipment budgets that meet safety, environmental, quality and operating requirements
    • Supports manufacturing processes and methods to improve plant performance, product quality, optimize workflows, and OEE of production equipment
    • Responsible for measuring, analyzing, and improving upon engineering and maintenance related KPIs, productivity, costs, while meeting departmental budgets
    • Drives preventive, routine, and urgent maintenance requirements to completion, including troubleshooting, repair, and replacement of all machinery and equipment
    • Benchmarks and evaluates new methodologies and tactics within the assigned areas
    • Establish and maintain external supplier relationships with machinery and equipment vendors to ensure project requirements are delivered on-time and on-budget
    • Regularly reviews machine and equipment data related to identify trends in support of continuous improvement and implement appropriate countermeasures
    • Ensures site compliance with all policies and procedures including engineering and maintenance safety, while representing Novolex in an ethical and business-like manner

    What We Need From You

    • Bachelor's degree in an engineering or maintenance field preferred
    • 5 years' experience in a maintenance management role, within the area of a multi-stage manufacturing environment, preferably in the plastics and or recycling industry
    • Additional experience preferences include a Six Sigma Principles, Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing background
    • Practical experience with risk assessment and management.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and projects under tight timelines; works with a sense of urgency
    • Exhibit detail oriented, analytical thinking and consistently demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and dependability
    • Displays excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Be able to establishes and maintains effective channels of communications with internal and external contacts
    • Strong problem-solving skills and evidence of good judgment
    • Independent and a self-starter
    • Strong organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills
    • Ability to work as part of a team
    • Excellent interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with individuals at all levels of the company and enjoy a fast-paced environment
    • Proficient in use of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) programs.
    • Ability to travel up to 25% in the US and Canada
