Plant Maintenance Manager oversees the plans for routine preventative maintenance and scheduled turnaround events at a plant or production facility. Estimates required work requests and maintains a consistent tracking system for work orders. Being a Plant Maintenance Manager leads inspection to ensure an effective preventative maintenance procedure and framework. Works closely with technicians, engineers, operations, and managers to establish a schedule of proactive maintenance activities during appropriate downtime. Additionally, Plant Maintenance Manager utilizes planning and scheduling methods to ensure the most effective and least disruptive maintenance possible. Typically uses a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS) for tracking and planning maintenance. Manages spare parts inventory to ensure the availability of required parts. Typically requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. May require a Certified Maintenance & Reliability Professional (CMRP) certification. Typically reports to a manager. The Plant Maintenance Manager supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include:
Continually improve safety record by addressing both physical safety issues and employee safety attitudes.
Ensures safety and environmental guidelines are complete and compliance is enforced.
Ensures the efficient and effective operation of the plant by directing and managing all plant operations with overall responsibilities for production, maintenance, quality and other production-related activities
Coordinate plant activities through planning with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner
Initiate plans and processes which minimize manufacturing costs and downtime through effective utilization of manpower, equipment, facilities, materials, and capital
Ensure attainment of business objectives and production schedules that meet or exceed our company's customer expectations
Maintain productivity levels through effective monitoring of staffing levels and financial requirements. - Develop and control profits plans and budget
Manage spending against budget in relations to changes in production volume
Work to establish management practices throughout assigned areas which include all employee's positive involvement with opportunity for input and action
Provide leadership and training to accomplish the company goals and objectives - Provide direction, development and leadership to the entire manufacturing team.
Manage a multiple shift operation.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Manufacturing
7 – 10 years of progressive plant/manufacturing management experience
Thorough knowledge of all plant operating processes and equipment, purchasing procedures, safety procedures, governmental regulations and company policies.
Experience in selecting, defining roles, leading/mentoring/motivating a team
Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills along with working knowledge of MS Office
Must be available to respond to emergency situations as needed
