Plant Inspector jobs in Burlington, NC

Plant Inspector inspects finished products for conformance to specifications using fixed or preset measuring instruments. Checks for irregularities and ensures that final products conform with established tolerance levels for quality and performance. Being a Plant Inspector documents all instances of non-conformance and rejected products in production reports. Prepares required inspection certifications. Additionally, Plant Inspector requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Plant Inspector works under the close direction of senior personnel in the functional area. Possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Cloth Inspector - Burlington Finishing Plant

    Responsibilities:

    Inspect and grade fabric checking for defects, shade consistency and finish.

    Cut shade panels required for roll type.

    Read work order and scope for inspection requirements.

    Prepare all necessary paperwork for lab swatches and off-quality reports.

    Attach hangtag to tube with barb gun.

    Record off quality on work-order and get required signatures.

    Assist in doffing full rolls or cuts onto conveyor.

    Show questionable and defective cloth to supervisor/section leader

    Match work-order style with cloth standard style.

    Must verify lot at completion.

    Have supervisor/section leader see excessive second quality cloth.

    Follow all procedures in department manual concerning quality & individual department requirements.

    Use standard procedures for inspecting fabric.
    Entering all defect information using electronic system of record and completing work orders.

    Aid in promotion, development, and maintenance principles of quality management to attain continuous improvement.

    Perform other functions that may be assigned by supervisor or management.

     


    Requirements:
    High school diploma or equivalent.
    Competent reading/writing skills to read and comprehend process manuals and work orders.
    Able to work assigned schedule of up to 10 hours and Saturdays.

    1. Evaluate material specifications
    2. Maintain inspection tools or equipment
    3. Compare findings with specifications to ensure conformance to standards
    4. Examine products or work to verify conformance to specifications
    5. Grade, classify, or sort products according to specifications
    6. Mark items for acceptance or rejection, according to conformance to specifications
    7. Record test results, test procedures, or inspection data
    8. Use hazardous materials information
    9. Use quality assurance techniques
    10. Monitor production machinery/equipment operation to detect problems
    11. Follow manufacturing methods or techniques
    12. Inspect manufactured products or materials
    13. Operate packaging or banding machine or equipment
    14. Maintain consistent production quality
    15. Maintain safe work environment
    16. Read specifications
    17. Use hand or power tools
    18. Use technical information in manufacturing or industrial activities
    19. Attach or mark identification onto products or containers
