    Human Resources Manager – Manchester, CT


    Job Summary:

    We are currently searching for a Human Resources Manager to join the Pursuit Aerospace organization and lead our Human Resources function in Manchester, Connecticut. This is a key leadership role supporting approximately $85M in annual sales and manufacturing output to the 250 employees of the site. 

    Key responsibilities include providing leadership and support in functional areas of human resources including recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits administration, legal compliance, safety, and health. The HR Manager will work closely with the site Management Team to develop and implement HR policies and programs that support Pursuit’s business objectives and promote a positive and productive work environment. Reporting to the Division Human Resource Director this role has 1 direct report. 

    Work location: On-site in Manchester, CT

    Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

    • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
    • Provide human resource generalist services, including compliance with regulatory agencies (i.e., EEOC, Human Rights, OFCCP, and OSHA)
    • Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization. This would include such things as maintenance of the Employee Handbook, updating communication areas and boards and other organizational processes that impact the employee base.
    • Manage the recruitment process including job postings, sourcing candidates, screening resumes, conducting interviews, and making job offers. Attracts, develops, and retains qualified, talented people, creating and sustaining a high-performance culture. 
    • Work with managers and supervisors to prepare employees for their assignments by establishing and conducting new employee orientation and job or department level training programs.
    • Nurture a positive working environment and employee relations. This would include occasionally participating in periodic employee meetings and surveys.
    • Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance. Provide training and guidance in the process and forms completion to drive consistency and fairness.
    • Counsel employees and supervisors regarding employee issues and performance gaps. Facilitate and administer disciplinary actions and terminations in consultation with the business.
    • Coordination with the Corporate office to administer Pursuit’s benefit programs.
    • Oversight of the Company’s workers compensation
    • React in a timely manner and drive resolution of issues.
    • Assess general training needs and monitor training programs. This would include participation and assistance with safety training and involvement and coordination with quality on other employee training requirements (FAA, etc.). Manage the training records and actively review gaps and dates for mandatory training requirements.
    • Develop and monitor the annual budget for HR related costs. Work with the finance team to project and forecast HR related expenses.
    • Coordinate and drive employee events and community involvement. Occasionally represent the Company at job fairs and other recruiting events.
    • Facilitate internal/external Health and Wellness activities.
    • Provides ongoing leadership in the development and refinement of the business strategy and strategic plan. Establishes supporting goals for Human Resources and all supporting functions and ensure they are implemented. Responsible for the overall department performance. 
    • Serves as a visible leader for the business; model and communicate behavior/expectations that set the standard for ethics, quality, customer responsiveness and accountability, including ensuring all employees are trained in, aware of, and compliant with company, government, and customer policies, procedures, and regulations.
    • Works collaboratively across the organization on policy deployment. 
    • Interface with customers and regulating bodies, as needed. 
    • Operates as a strong team leader and team builder focused on generating results through collaboration, influence and relationship building.
    • Other various duties as needed or as assigned.

     

    Minimum Qualifications:

    • B.A. or B.S. degree in Human Resources or Organizational Psychology and a minimum of four (4) years of related experience, or a minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience.
    • Knowledge of HR systems and databases including payroll processing systems such as ADP, Paycom, etc.
    • PHR/SPHR certification a plus
    • 3-5 years HR generalist experience.
    • In-depth knowledge of HR principles, practices, and procedures
    • Superior interpersonal skills and time management. 
    • Proficient in all MS Office applications.  
    • Experience in the aerospace industry is strongly preferred.

     

    Working Conditions: 

    • Working conditions generally consist of office and shop floor environments; other than safety glasses and hearing protection, additional personal protective equipment generally not required.
    • May be required to lift up to 20 – 30 lbs. on an occasional basis.
    • Weekend and evening work may be required to accommodate priorities, deadlines, and schedules.

     

    Preferred Additional Skills and Qualifications:

    • Aerospace and/ or Manufacturing experience preferred.
    • Advanced degree preferred.
    • Analyze and problem-solving skills in Human Relations, for the various situations and issues.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents human capita, financial, & accounting documents, and reports 
    • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
    • Ability to speak effectively before all levels of employees in the organization.
    • Ability to assist in and have input on strategy along with leadership skills.
    • Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
    • Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
    • Working knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
    • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
