Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Oversees multi-functional plant teams including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant General Manager manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Plant General Manager typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.     Overview

    The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations of the Production department with overall responsibilities for Scheduling, Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Quality. This position reports to the Director of Operations and will serve on the CWMF Management Team. 

     

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Directly supervise 5 or more employees and indirectly manage 25 or more employees.
    • Responsible for Scheduling, Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Quality functions.
    • Develop capacity plans in alignment with Sales, Engineering, and Supply Chain departments.
    • Responsible for the master schedule.
    • Ensure safety is a top priority and champion a safety-first culture.
    • Ensure the company has the right short- and long-term staffing to meet planned growth plans.
    • Recommend or apply measures to motivate employees and improve work methods.
    • Ensure that adequate training programs are established and provided to personnel at all levels within the Production department, as necessary.
    • Establish and monitor key performance indicators to monitor department efficiencies.
    • Collect and analyze data to find places of waste and implement continuous improvement measures to minimize that waste.
    • Maintain a roadmap for the companies’ short-term and long-term equipment needs.
    • Monitor the performance of plant equipment and prepare capital equipment requests when necessary.
    • Oversee the company’s maintenance/facility program.
    • Responsible for the company quality initiative.
    • Develop and monitor standard operational and working practices to ensure the highest level of consistency and quality are met.
    • Monitor company property and ensure security measures are being implemented and followed.
    • Actively participate in Management Team meetings.
    • Performs all other duties as needed.

    Education and Experience Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • 7 years of experience in manufacturing operations
    • 5 years of supervisory experience
