Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Oversees multi-functional plant teams including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. Summary: The Plant Manager is responsible for linking the business vision, mission, and goals to the plant floor ensuring operational delivery. He/she accomplishes this by providing coaching, direction, and support to the operational team(s) aligning work with Safety, Quality, increased operational efficiencies and output to goals creating the foundation for continued growth.
The Plant Manager liaisons with the VP of Operations, CEO, and the operations team(s).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
· Lead operations team to achieve company Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost goals.
· Manage, direct, and coordinate the overall plant operations to meet established goals in safety, quality, cost, people, and customer service.
· Provide leadership and direction to the Thermoforming department, product lines, and teams to meet production goals ensure a safe work environment, and quality meeting customer specifications.
· Schedule, track, & monitor production and costs to ensure the unit(s) meet established budgets ad goals while maintaining a safe work environment and ensuring quality standards are maintained.
· Foster and support Safety by taking personal accountability for our safety awareness programs, communicating safety issues, correcting safety-related problems, and co-leading investigations into safety-related concerns. Safety is everyone’s responsibility and it is critical the Plant Manager co-leads and fosters safety objectives to the leader ship and employees at the site.
· Manage Extrusion team and ensures extrusion production and safety goals are met
· Manage Maintenance Team and ensures equipment is used and kept with the most safety and efficiency
· Indirectly supervise 100 hourly employees and agency temps.
· Maintain an effective workforce through partnering with Human Resources for hiring, training, coaching, and disciplinary/positive improvement actions.
· Perform managerial duties related to personnel decisions, including, but not limited to, writing, and conducting performance evaluations, hiring, disciplinary and termination decisions, and work assignments.
· Provide leadership to the Thermoforming department, production lines and teams in order to meet production goals, ensure a safe work environment, and meet customer specifications.
· Link the operation of the plant to deliverables and goals.
· Measure all essential processes.
· Ensures site compliance with Employee Safety, Equipment use and facility maintenance requirements
· Complete and maintain timely and accurate reports on critical production outcomes such as efficiency, downtime, cost, etc.
· Build and maintain a collaborative, team-oriented relationship with other functional leaders while fostering an environment of continuous improvement to drive efficiencies.
· Identify cost savings opportunities in the operations process and recommend improvements as needed.
· Provide accurate feedback throughout the organization.
