Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Oversees multi-functional plant teams including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant General Manager manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Plant General Manager typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience. Main Responsibilities & Accountabilities: Deploys Lean Manufacturing techniques in the area of quality, cost reduction, complete and on-time deliveries, safety, customer satisfaction, employee relations, visual controls and plant performance measures Provides leadership for employee relations through effective communications, coaching, training and development and problem resolution in a way that supports the Blueprint Monitors operations for efficiency and safety ensuring that all applicable regulatory requirements are met/followed Drives improvements in plant operations, manufacturing processes and standardized work procedures leading to productivity and efficiency gains through application of Lean Tools Oversees production supervision staff for all shifts Oversees production schedules to meet internal goals and customer expectations Establishes and directs plant policies and procedures Monitors overall plant performance for production and quality standards Drives all company safety policies, practices and procedures to ensure 100% compliance Responsible for operational labor metrics, improvement in the Team Improvement Process and OEE metrics Facilitates Lean Six Sigma process improvement opportunities throughout the plant and be the plant ambassador for quality and process excellence Full P&L responsibility; works closely with finance and sales & marketing to partner towards sales objectives Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business or Operations Management 8 years of operations management experience in a Lean Manufacturing environment Self-driven, accountable, high integrity, open communicator, strong work ethic Intermediate computer skills in programs such as MS Word, MS Excel, and Outlook are required, fast, and accurate data entry skills General accounting knowledge helpful Strong time management skills Must be able to handle various issues simultaneously and prioritize Strong organizational skills Strong communication skills both written and verbal The rate of pay for this position begins at an annualized salary of $154,000 (for a 40-hour work week) benefits. Base pay may increase depending on job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
