Plant General Manager directs, manages, and optimizes a plant or production facility's overall operations and financial performance (P&L). Sets policies and procedures that guide plant operations' productivity, quality, and cost efficiency. Being a Plant General Manager systematically collects operational metrics to analyze productivity and set performance targets to meet revenue and cost goals. Supports the development and deployment of manufacturing practices focused on quality and continuous improvement. Additionally, Plant General Manager ensures robust plant safety and security inspections, auditing, and training procedures are implemented to meet OSHA and other required regulations. Leads labor relations negotiations and engages with union leadership involving plant operations. Oversees multi-functional plant teams including finance, engineering, materials, quality assurance, and human resources. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering, finance or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Plant General Manager manages a departmental function within a broader corporate function. Develops major goals to support broad functional objectives. Approves policies developed within various sub-functions and departments. To be a Plant General Manager typically requires 8+ years of managerial experience.     On offer is the exciting opportunity to assist with control of a manufacturing plant with approximately 140 hands-on fabricators and have full control of processes and implementation of strategies to further propel the team. You will work closely with the General Manager to upskill and improve the production environment.

    The Company has over 110 employees and is planning on adding 35 more staff and are renowned for their production expertise.

    This role would suit someone with strong leadership experience and a history of implementing improvement ideas looking to assist with the control of the entire plant with the future growth to become the General Manager and run the operation.
    The Role:

    • Aids the General Manager in all aspects and daily operations, especially a strong presence on the plant floor, to ensure successful, efficient, and profitable operation of the facility.
    • Reviews departmental objectives; and evaluates daily activities of all departments. Ensures that the plant is operating at maximum capacity and efficiency.
    • Reviews production costs and product quality and modifies production, tool programs, and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance the operation.
    • Develops plans for efficient machine, manpower, and material utilization.
    • Develops and motivates staff to attain proper standards of performance.
    • Analyzes various reports and initiates proper corrective actions for unacceptable trends.
    • Answers departmental or customer complaints and resolves problems.
    • Inspects plant floor for cleanliness, appearance, and safety standards.
    • Works closely with the Quality team to ensure that our build practices and training programs are producing first time right products.
    • Supports all management staff in their areas of expertise while holding them accountable to the overall needs of the plant.
    • Represents the facility with vendors, community, and guest tours.

    The Person:

    • Previous process improvement, divisional management, or operational management or similar experience
    • Passion for leadership and process improvements
    • Strong communication skills. Ability to bring consensus to a team and influence new ideas into tangible results.
    • Experience working with both machine-based and hand-based fabrication methods is preferred.
    • Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to inspire and motivate a team
    • Ability to create new systems, create efficient processes, and management multiple disciplines.
    • Highly analytical and able to present data in a cohesive manner
    • Salary will be commensurate with experience
