Plant Accounting Manager jobs in Indiana

Summary: As the Plant Accounting Manager, you will be responsible for various daily, weekly, and monthly financial reporting functions. You will supervise 1-2 employees in order to support the facility's accounting and administration functions.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Manage and develop personnel, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge for their position.
• Oversee, including posting and approval of, accounts payable batches to include proper three-way match, sales tax accuracy, and authorizations in a paperless process.
• Oversee resolution of accounts payable items.
• Reconcile plant bank accounts.
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, month-end work papers, and other month-end duties as assigned.
• Close monitoring and reporting of inventory and WIP inventory to ensure accurate daily, weekly, and monthly inventory balances as appropriate. This includes working cross-functionally with operations, trade, and procurement teams.
• Working daily with Operations team and Corporate accounting to effectively and efficiently communicate daily activities of the plant to ensure budgets are being met and accurate accounting of transaction. This includes but is not limited to; understanding necessary maintenance and repairs, timing and execution of capital projects, planned and open purchase orders, downtime (both scheduled and unscheduled).
• Accurate forecasting of facility operations through coordination with Operations team.
• Back up plant accounting team duties as needed.
• Understanding and coordination with corporate accounting on intercompany transactions.
• Review and approve state filings for motor fuels, sale and use tax, etc.
• Other duties as may be assigned to accomplish the safe and timely day-to-day operations within the administrative office.

Qualifications:

• Detail-oriented; proficiency for accuracy; dependable; positive attitude; team player.
• Strong MS Office experience and proficiency with developing and using spreadsheets and/or databases.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting/business or 3-5 years of accounting experience preferred.
• Above-average communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and take ownership of assigned projects.
• Accounting software experience preferred.
• Ability to identify improvement areas and drive automation in accounting processes.
• Valid driver’s license required.

Work Environment/Physical Demands:

• Ability to meet physical demands of the job includes but is not limited to: frequent sitting, standing, walking, frequent computer use, frequent telephone use, some lifting or moving up to 30 lbs.
