Job Summary:
A Cost Accountant is responsible for collecting, analyzing, and reporting financial information related to the costs of production and other business operations. They work closely with different departments within an organization to ensure accurate cost data and provide valuable insights to support decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Cost Analysis: Analyze and evaluate production costs, material costs, labor costs, overhead expenses, and other relevant costs to identify areas of improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
2. Cost Allocation/Product Costing: Allocate fixed and variable costs to various cost centers, products, or projects accurately to determine profitability and performance at different levels of the organization. Conduct reviews of labor and overhead rates by cost center to maintain proper standard costs.
3. Variance Analysis and Reporting: Investigate and explain variances between standard costs and actual costs. Prepare and distribute reports to management and provide recommendations to address unfavorable variances.
4. Compliance: Ensure compliance with accounting standards and company policies in cost accounting practices. Stay updated on changes in regulations and industry best practices.
5. General Accounting Knowledge: Perform other accounting tasks as assigned including accounts receivable and accounts payable tasks.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
- Strong understanding of cost accounting principles and financial analysis.
- Advanced skills in MS Office Products and knowledge of ERP system.
- Analytical mindset with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and independently when required, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
