The Planning Commission seeks a Community Planning Division Director responsible for division management and administration with a focus on implementing the County’s comprehensive plan, Landscapes3, through collaboration and consensus building with local municipalities and community partners. The Division Director supervises planning staff responsible for assisting municipalities with community planning, urban planning, historic preservation, housing programs and events, and economic development planning efforts. The Division Director administers the Vision Partnership Grant Program, including the review and awarding of cash grants and the provision of direct county consulting services to municipalities to support and implement their planning programs.
Program administration (develop and promote work programs).
Participate in county-wide land use and planning studies.
Supervision of department staff and provide guidance and development (monitor workload and performance, and provide feedback).
Develop work programs, contracts for service, contract monitoring, and promotion of the Vision Partnership Program.
Maintain the budget for the Vision Partnership Program, including grant awards and processing invoices for services rendered under the program.
Prepare a variety of publications (e.g. newsletters, annual reports, and planning studies).
Participate in managing the production schedule for the office by representing the Planning Services Division.
Attend contractual meetings (attend meetings, workshops and client hearings).
Manage the division budget (handle grants and work within budgetary guidelines).
Promote public relations (answer questions, provide guidance, etc.).
Prepare annual staff performance reviews.
Manage office production within the division.
Perform other duties, tasks and special projects, as required.
Bachelor’s degree in City or Regional Planning, Public Administration, or related field from an accredited college or university.
Eight years of job-related progressive experience in community planning and management.
