Being a Planner/Scheduler - Construction researches and reports on economic, legal, and other factors that may impact project success. Evaluates current procedures and recommends changes to improve the efficiency of planning and scheduling of projects and the reduction of issues due to scheduling errors. Additionally, Planner/Scheduler - Construction understands and utilizes standard planning and scheduling methodologies and tools. Prepares plans and schedules for small and routine projects. To coordinate all site construction activities and supervise staff and subcontractors as required to complete Employer’s project(s) on schedule, ensuring adherence to plans, specifications, and industry standards.
Required Skills/Abilities to Perform the Following:
-Review and redline project drawings.
-Schedule and coordinate daily work activities.
-Schedule work activities for subcontractor trades.
-Utilize and distribute scheduling memos every week to subcontractors and vendors.
-Record and maintain detailed daily field reports.
-Use computer software and the internet to organize, track, and communicate as needed.
-Oversee, in person, the construction site and work progress.
-Resolve issues that arise with subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers.
-Schedule and obtain required project/building inspections and testing services.
-Interact with inspectors and obtain necessary approvals.
-Assist in the creation of the project construction schedule in conjunction with the Project Manager.
-Provide a weekly updated three-week look-ahead schedule.
-Take job progress photographs for download to an assigned location on a shared drive.
-Initiate Requests for Information (RFIs) from the site through communication with the Project Manager.
-Assist the Project Manager in the review and distribution of shop drawings and submittals.
-Identify materials that require long lead times and coordinate and verify with the subcontractor that such material has been placed on order.
-Assist the Project Manager in reviewing information updates prepared by the architect prior to issuance.
-Assist the Project Manager with reviewing information updates from subcontractors and verifying quantities and scope of work performed.
-Compliance with OSHA safety standards.
-Control access and maintain safety and security at the job site.
-Keep and maintain “As-built” drawing during the entire construction phase.
-Maintain updated construction drawings with all RFIs, bulletins, and field changes.
-Supervise completion of final punch lists for timely building turnover.
-Perform all Quality Control inspections.
-Travel as required.
