Works alongside underwriters, but is not an underwriter role. Being a Plan Design Specialist monitors and analyzes cost trends. May handle more complex plan design. Additionally, Plan Design Specialist requires a bachelor's degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Design Specialist is responsible for utilizing the SolidWorks software to create and modify detailed design models and drawings for the MCM USV project. The specialist collaborates with naval architects, engineers, and other stakeholders to develop 3D models and 2D drawings that accurately represent the ship's structure, equipment, and systems. They ensure that the designs meet industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements while optimizing for efficiency, functionality, and ease of manufacturing. The Design Specialist also conducts design reviews, resolves design-related issues, and incorporates feedback from various stakeholders to refine and improve the design. They stay up-to-date with the latest SolidWorks tools and techniques and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes and practices in shipbuilding. The candidate must have 8 years of designing experience with at least 2 years of experience supporting unmanned crafts or autonomy programs. US Navy or government program experience is desired.
