    Early Settlement Mediation – Northeast Program
    RSU – Bartlesville Campus

    POSITION SUMMARY:
    The Alternative Dispute Resolution System based out of the Administrative Office of the Courts oversees thirteen (13) regional Early Settlement Program offices serving all seventy-seven (77) Oklahoma Counties. The Early Settlement programs are grant programs provide FREE mediation services to the courts and communities across Oklahoma. Mediators are community volunteers who attend a required training and complete steps to become a certified volunteer. Oklahoma has been recognized as having one of the top community-based, court-connected mediation programs in the nation!

    The Early Settlement Mediation – Northeast Program is grant funded by the Supreme Court of Oklahoma, Administrative Office of the Courts and sponsored by Rogers State University (RSU) with the office located at the RSU – Bartlesville Campus. The Program Director coordinates mediation services to the following northeastern Oklahoma counties: Craig, Nowata, Osage, Ottawa, Rogers, and Washington counties.

    PRIMARY DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include, but are not limited to:
    • Develop a working relationship with the judges and court officials in the service area.
    • Develop public awareness of the program through correspondence, one-on-one discussions, and speaking presentations to local bar associations, civic clubs, schools, and other community organizations throughout the service area.
    • Conduct mediation sessions.
    • Recruit, train, supervise and certify volunteer mediators throughout the service area.
    • Oversee the operation of the program office located on the RSU – Bartlesville Campus. This includes supervision of staff, case management, scheduling, coordination of volunteer mediators, and monitoring the annual program budget.
    • Work with the State Director of Dispute Resolution and attend meetings as required.
    • Submit monthly/annual program statistics to the State Director of Dispute Resolution and the Dispute Resolution Advisory Board
    • Required to attend mediation training, including, basic civil, family, and advanced mediation, provided by the Administrative Office of the Courts.
    • Provide conflict resolution training to staff and students as requested by supervisor.
    • The job will require approximately 30% travel.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
    • Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent work experience.
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment.
    • Excellent and proven experience working in Microsoft Office suite including Excel and PowerPoint
    • Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize, make solid judgment and problem-solve.
    • Ability to self-manage and identify areas of need and complete day-to-day activities.
    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS but not required:
    • Master’s degree
    • Work experience in conflict resolution.
    • Experience with program budgets and case management.

    CERTIFICATES/LICENSES/REGISTRATIONS:
    Must have a valid Oklahoma driver’s license.
    Attend basic and advanced mediator training programs from the Administrative Office of the Courts and become certified in order to retain position.

    OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    Must have good oral/written communication skills and have the ability to handle several tasks at once. Must be able to prioritize work assignments efficiently and effectively. Must be a self-starter who requires minimal supervision. Additional skills, not required but helpful, include experience in public speaking and working with volunteers.

    REPORTS TO/SUPERVISOR:
    The program office is located on the Rogers State University - Bartlesville Campus and the Campus Director will oversee the day-to-day operations and the State Director and Associate State Director of the Oklahoma Supreme Court, Alternative Dispute Resolution System, will provide program operation guidelines and provide on-going support.

    HOURS:
    Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

    FLSA CLASSIFICATION:
    Exempt

    SALARY RANGE:
    $51,000 - $53,000 plus RSU employee benefits
