    Job Summary

    Provides consultation services to physicians and staff regarding the use of radiation to obtain quality diagnostic images. Oversees the use of radiation in diagnostic imaging and/or radiation oncology for the Sanford system to ensure safety and compliance with professional accreditations as well as state and federal requirements. Helps install printers, computers, and other technology related to the clinic (i.e., CT, simulation, setups, fabricate materials). Utilizes knowledge of physics and technology as a resource when consulting with physicians. Possesses an understanding of radiological fields.

    Qualifications

    Master’s degree in physics, biophysics, medical physics or radiological physics.

    Two years’ experience working in diagnostic radiology/nuclear medicine department responsible for equipment testing and quality control/quality assurance preferred.

    Board certified required. If not certified, the new hire has five years from time of hire to become certified.

    For a physicist in diagnostic radiology, acceptable certifications are: the American Board of Radiology in Diagnostic Physics, Diagnostic Medical Physics, or Diagnostic Radiologic Physics, American Board of Medical Physics, Canadian College of Physicist in Medicine or related certification board.

    For a physicist in radiation oncology, acceptable certifications are: the American Board of Radiology in Therapeutic Physics, Therapeutic Medical Physics, or Therapeutic Radiologic Physics, American Board of Medical Physics, Canadian College of Physicist in Medicine or related certification board.
