Physician Residency Coordinator jobs in Durham, NC

Physician Residency Coordinator oversees the administration and scheduling of the physician residency program of a healthcare organization. Coordinates and facilitates the activities of the physician residents and provides the resources necessary to fulfill curriculum requirements. Being a Physician Residency Coordinator ensures physician activities comply with governing bodies such as the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or other applicable regulations. Supports the recruitment and selection process of resident physicians. Additionally, Physician Residency Coordinator administers and maintains a system or database to manage schedules and physician performance metrics. May require a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Physician Residency Coordinator occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     Position Summary

    Performs clerical and reception duties. Practices according to Person Memorial Hospital policies/procedures/standards.

    Reports to: Department Manager

     

    Responsibilities of the Position

    Provides general patient care on an ongoing basis and/or during any interactions, administering to the emotional and physical needs of patients.

    Provides prompt and courteous response to customer’s and public’s needs and requests.

    Obtains accurate information pertinent to the patients visit at Person Physicians through interviews and/or by locating patient records.

    Schedules studies, tests, and appointments effectively, minimizing conflicts and making best use of patient’s and health care professional’s time.

    Performs clerical and receptionist duties.

    Develops detailed courses of action to ensure special events or projects are executed properly or departmental programs are administered effectively.

    Provide health education to patient and family members.

    Maintain and coordinate communication among patient, family members, staff and physician as evidenced within medical record and patient.

    Composes, prepares and edits written and/or graphic materials (e.g. letters, correspondence, reports, proposals, brochures) using correct grammar and format, and meeting content requirements.

    Identifies potential safety hazards in work areas and takes appropriate action to ensure safety of self and others.

    Processes incoming/outgoing forms and documents according to standard operating procedures.

    Other tasks and duties as assigned.


    Minimum Education

    High school diploma or equivalent is required.

     

    Minimum Work Experience

    Preferred knowledge or experience with medical office to include all types of insurances (authorizations, verifications, and scheduling). Good communication skills.

     

    Required Skills

    Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

    Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
