POSITION SUMMARY:
Breakthrough Public Schools seeks a self-motivated Director of Recruitment who is energized by our mission to provide Cleveland area scholars with an education that empowers them to lead lives full of impact and opportunity. The Director of Recruitment will plan and execute a robust and customer-service-oriented talent recruitment strategy to attract, select, and hire top talent. They will be tasked with nurturing a rich and diverse talent pipeline, ensuring that BPS can recruit highly effective, diverse educators and ultimately enduring that BPS is fully staffed each year. The Director of Recruitment reports to the Chief People Officer and manages the Talent Acquisition team.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Data Tracking, Sourcing & Cultivation
- Track metrics related to recruitment, lead generation, cultivation, and selection
- Manage systems to track contacts made through cultivation, selection progress to date, and the next steps
- Develop and execute strong one-on-one cultivation meetings with prospects that lead to clear next steps
- Lead the network’s Referral Program, including developing, investing staff and following through with referral engagement
- Collaborate with the Communications team to ensure effective use of all BPS social media platforms
- Support, execute, and refine strategic national and local outreach, including but not limited to partnerships with transition to teaching programs, local universities, and partner organizations
- Develop and execute internal and external talent recruitment events, including happy hours, school tours, hiring fairs, information sessions at colleges/universities, etc.
- Identify and manage the marketing of new jobs on a variety of job boards and sites
Hiring & Selection
Develop and refine selection processes and materials for open roles- Oversee the selection process for all open roles, including application reviews, phone interviews, final interviews, and the offer process
- Build relationships with applicants, remaining in contact with them throughout the selection process
- Develop a vision for the matriculation process and support execution to ensure hires are ready to start on the first day of school, including collaboration with schools and the HR Operations team
- Ensure all teachers are certified by developing expertise in Ohio licensing requirements, collaborating with school teams to ensure teachers are held accountable to certification steps, and tracking and reporting certification to the People Team
Stakeholder Management
Invest significant time to deeply understanding each department and school’s priorities and challenges, understanding each team’s systems and structures, and building strong relationships with staff members- Develop strong relationships with school leadership teams and lead monthly talent meetings with School Leaders in collaboration with the Chief People Officer.
- Provide input on staffing plans, including shifting roles, succession planning, and management structures
- Build deep relationships with home office and school leaders, acting as a strategic advisor to them and problem-solving issues as they arise
- Invest department and school leaders in talent recruitment goals and provide training to them to effectively execute strategies
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years of working experience (required)
- Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience (preferred)
- Track record of achieving exceptional results in prior role(s)
- Prior experience with talent recruitment or hiring preferred
- Experience working as an educator or in an educational setting
Licensure and Certification(s):
- Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license with a driving record per the BPS’s acceptable guidelines.
- Bachelor's degree required, Master's degree preferred
- SHRM – CP, PHR, SPHR, IHRIM, Certified Internet Recruiter, or Certified Diversity Recruiter Certifications are preferred. Talent acquisition, recruitment, and/or Human Resources certification a plus
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
- Strong knowledge of recruitment with the ability to apply diversity, equity, and inclusion principles to talent acquisition.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with an ability to take initiative, receive feedback, and seek out creative ideas
- Ability to drive programmatic change initiatives through solid relationship building at all organizational levels.
- Strong organizational skills, excellent interpersonal skills, and a "Customer Focus" attitude and delivery.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to make effective presentations, the proven ability to develop and drive change, and the ability to effectively communicate change.
- Ability to effectively multi-task and be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Performs work in an office setting with moderate levels of noise, sitting for long periods of time, repetitive motion using computers and phones, with exposure to fluorescent lighting
- Ability to occasionally travel to school and other locations. Must possess a valid driver’s license, be able to drive, and have access to a vehicle.
