Physician - Radiation Therapy uses radiation to treat patients with cancer. Develops an individual treatment plan based on the patient's medical history, physical examination, review of laboratory tests, X-ray studies, and biopsies. Being a Physician - Radiation Therapy works with medical radiation physicists and dosimetrists to calculate and deliver the exact dose of radiation to the cancer tissue. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Additionally, Physician - Radiation Therapy requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. Position Summary

Radiation therapists use ionizing-radiation producing equipment to administer therapeutic doses of radiation as prescribed by physicians for treatment of disease -- generally cancer; the radiation therapist is responsible for monitoring the condition of the patient undergoing radiation treatment and assessing if changes to the treatment plan are required. This position requires weekend and holiday on-call coverage.
Primary Position Responsibilities-
Follows all department policies to ensure comprehensive, safe patient care and compliance with state, federal and other regulatory requirements.

Performs quality assurance testing, and acquires and records all parameters needed to deliver radiation therapy accurately, using policies, practice standards, prescriptions and professional judgment to ensure quality with regard to all aspects of treatment delivery.

Perform simulation procedures accurately and consistently.

Performs treatment procedures accurately and consistently.

Documents patient treatment and assessments thoroughly and accurately.

Completes daily and weekly chart checks.
