Physician - Radiation Therapy uses radiation to treat patients with cancer. Develops an individual treatment plan based on the patient's medical history, physical examination, review of laboratory tests, X-ray studies, and biopsies. Being a Physician - Radiation Therapy works with medical radiation physicists and dosimetrists to calculate and deliver the exact dose of radiation to the cancer tissue. Requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Additionally, Physician - Radiation Therapy requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director.     Under the general direction of the Cancer Program Director, the Manager of Radiation Oncology is responsible for the direction and supervision of the administrative and clinical affairs of Radiation Oncology services. Performs these duties and assures the provision of high quality, clinically competent, customer-oriented service. Serves as the liaison between the areas of responsibility, contract physicians, hospital administration, the medical staff at large, nursing and other departments.

    Required qualifications:

    • Graduate of an accredited radiation therapy, medical dosimetry or medical physics program.
    • Upon hire: National Certification from American Registry of Radiologic Technologists
    • Upon hire: California Diagnostic and Therapeutic Radiologic Technology Certification Or
    • Upon hire: California Therapeutic Radiologic Technology Certification
    • 5 years' Experience in an acute care facility at the Manager level.

    Preferred qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration Or
    • Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration or Business Administration.
