    Summary:

    As a Radiation Therapist Assistant at California Protons Cancer Therapy Center you will play a vital role in supporting our radiation therapy team in the safe and effective delivery of radiation treatments to cancer patients. You will work closely with radiation therapists and other healthcare professionals to ensure that patients receive the best care possible. We are currently seeking Full Time Radiation Therapy Assistants to provide patient care under the supervision of the Radiation Therapists.  Provides and maintains a clean, safe and attractive environment for patients by preparing and cleaning the patient treatment dressing rooms, and treatment rooms.   Retrieves and transports patients from the lobby back to the dressing and treatment areas.  Orders supplies as needed.  Collaborates with team members to assure optimal patient care.  Maintains own clinical and mandatory education requirements.  Maintains own competency and mandatory education requirements.  Answers telephone and processes calls as appropriate.  

    Salary Range: $22.00-27.00/hour DOE

    Job Description:

    • Patient Preparation: Prepare patients for radiation therapy treatments by explaining general process (training provided), performing handheld ultrasound bladder scans (training provided), assisting with patient positioning (training provided), and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
    • Equipment Setup: Assist in the setup and calibration of radiation therapy equipment, including linear accelerators and treatment planning systems.
    • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records pertaining to aspects of patient treatments, including ultrasound bladder scan readings.
    • Patient Monitoring: Monitor patients during their preparation for daily treatment, ensuring their well-being and reporting any adverse reactions or discomfort to the radiation therapist while patients are coming in or leaving their daily appointments.
    • Quality Assurance: Participate in quality assurance activities such as maintaining inventory counts and verifying expiration dates of supplies.
    • Safety Procedures: Adhere to strict safety protocols and radiation protection measures to minimize radiation exposure to patients, staff, and yourself.
    • Communication: Collaborate effectively with radiation therapists, oncologists, nurses, and other healthcare team members to provide coordinated care to patients.
    • Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about the radiation therapy process.
    • Maintain Cleanliness: Ensure the cleanliness and sanitation of specific treatment department areas and equipment to prevent infection and maintain a safe environment.

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum 1 year experiences as either Physician office or Hospital environment with patient transportation is preferred.
    • Basic computer skills. 
    • Must be able to speak, read and follow instructions in English.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Attention to detail and the ability to maintain accurate records.
    • Compassion and empathy for patients dealing with cancer.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a healthcare team.
    • Knowledge of radiation therapy equipment and safety procedures (training will be provided).
    • Physical ability to assist with patient positioning and equipment setup.

    Education: 

    • High school graduate or equivalent preferred.
