The PM&R Physician - Physiatry Section Chief, is assigned to Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) Service at VA Central California Healthcare System (VACCHCS). VA provides patient centered care, delivered by engaged, collaborative teams in an integrated environment that supports learning and continuous improvement. The Veteran's experience and health outcomes are improved with an emphasis on prevention through healing relationships in an optimal healing environment. This physician is trained and board certified in PM&R Specialty and must have outstanding clinical and interpersonal skills as a leader in the VA professional health care team. The incumbent provides veteran-centered care for a variety of medical conditions that may benefit from services of PM&R physician or physiatrist. Duties include PM&R-Physiatry program development and implementation, management, direction and oversight of the PM&R Section and programs at the facility, supervision of assigned staff, and includes day-to-day care of veteran patients though-out the continuum of care in a variety of healthcare settings.
Work Schedule: 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Additional Requirement: Board certified with the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) n PM&R Specialty.
Preferred Experience: Additional experience, training or certification in Pain Management, Medical Acupuncture, Integrative Medicine and/or Functional Medicine are preferred but not required. Supervisory or prior leadership experience preferred by not required.

Physical Requirements: Applicants must meet physical standards for the position. A physical examination prior to placement is required. This is a designated drug testing position. After appointment, you will be subject to random testing for illegal drug use. Requires lifting 15-44 pounds; pushing (approx. 2 hours); reaching above shoulder; use of fingers and both hands; walking and standing from 3-5 hours and kneeling. Ability for rapid mental and muscular coordination simultaneously. Must have depth perception and ability to distinguish basic colors and shades of colors. Hearing aid is permitted.
