Physician - Pediatric Neonatology examines newborn children to ensure proper injury care and disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Fellow - Physician Assistant, Neonatology

  • Responsibilities

    Under the supervision of clinical mentors, the Neonatal PA fellow is a 12 month limited term position that will consist of precepted clinical practice, didactic teaching, and simulation skills training. The Fellow will provide direct care and assume increasing responsibility for clinical management of patients in ambulatory or inpatient settings. In precepted practice, the fellow will learn to obtain patient histories, perform physical examinations, order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans. The Fellow will participate in case management and continuing care. The Fellow will learn to collaborate, refer, and consult with department attending physicians, specialists, and other members of the health care team to deliver effective, efficient, safe, and high quality care. The Fellow will be exposed to the APPs role in contributing to organizational and departmental continuous performance and quality improvement projects. The Fellow will participate in education and research efforts for patients, families, and the health care team.

    Requirements

    Required Education/Experience:

    • Graduate of a nationally accredited physician assistant program.
    • 1 year work experience in a health care role.

    Required Credentials:

    • Active, unencumbered Physician Assistant licensure in the State of Washington.
    • Initial certification by the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.
    • Active Drug Enforcement Authority registration.
    • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) (as per United States standards).
    • Active clinical privileges as an Allied Health Provider, Seattle Children’s Hospital.
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support.
    • Prior to start of employment, must obtain, and maintain in good standing, medical or allied health professional staff privileges that are not limited, revoked, suspended, conditioned, or probationary, except for normal probationary periods due to initial appointment.
    • All medical and allied health professional staff members are provisional for the first year.
    • Any and all medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children's will terminate automatically upon the termination of the individual's employment at Children's; for this term limited position, the Fellow’s privileges will terminate with the pre-determined end of the position, as noted in the offer letter from Human Resources.
    • If a permanent position is offered and accepted, the application for privileges will be processed as a reappointment to the medical staff.
    • Termination of employment does not prohibit the individual from seeking medical or allied health professional staff privileges at Children’s as a non-employee in any category for which the individual qualifies.
    • Questions regarding medical or allied health professional staff privileges may be directed to Medical Staff Services.

    Preferred:

    • Experience in the Physician Assistant role.
    • Preparation at the master's degree level with a concentration in physician assistant studies.
    • Experience in a health care role in a Level III NICU.

    Min to Max Hourly Salary

    $59.43 - $59.43 /hr

    Min to Max Annual Salary

    $123,614.00 - $123,614.00 /yr

    Salary Information

    This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.

    Seattle Children’s offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
