• MD, DO, or equivalent degree


• Successful completion of an approved Anesthesiology residency training program


• Fellowship training or equivalent clinical experience in Pediatric Anesthesia


Certifications / Licensure Requirements:

• Eligible for medical licensure in the state of Iowa


• Board Certification by the American Board of Anesthesia in Pediatric Anesthesiology and Anesthesiology (or non-US Board equivalent) or be in the certification process.


• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification through the American Heart Association


Required Qualification:

• Candidates must demonstrate experience working effectively in an inclusive environment


• Previous formal supervisory experience is a plus


• Experience in teaching and clinical research

Job Description:

The Department of Anesthesia at the University of Iowa and University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital is seeking a Division Chief for Pediatric Anesthesia. Successful applicants will be accomplished academic anesthesiologists with demonstrated experience working in an inclusive environment, have high level communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with leadership throughout the Department, Hospital, and School of Medicine.

Responsibilities include oversight of all aspects and missions of pediatric anesthesiology including clinical care, educational programs, and research. The incoming Chief will lead the advancement of the division’s medical education, research, and scholarship and promote the careers of division faculty.
Applicants with national recognition demonstrated by a history of outstanding academic achievement as evidenced by publications and extramural funding are preferred.
