JOB TITLE: Cytology Processor - Nongyn

DEPARTMENT: Laboratory

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

GRADE: 901

REPORTS TO: General Supervisor, Cytology

Hours: Monday - Friday 2 pm - 10:30 pm

POSITION SUMMARY

The Cytology Processor - Nongyn is responsible for specimen processing and accessioning.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Receiving, sorting and handling of specimens
• Ensuring all patient specimens received match the corresponding requisitions
• Documentation of any discrepancies during the receiving process, i.e. different patient names, incorrect requisition
• Ensuring proper storage and testing of specimens
• Data Entry – entering pertinent patient information and procedure names into the system accurately to ensure proper patient diagnosis as well as printing out additional labels when necessary
• Runs T-2000 and Prepstain
• Filing of cytology slides after final review
• Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent

Bachelor's or Associate's Degree in a science related field preffered.

Experience / Abilities:

• Previous Laboratory experience preferred
• Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to management multiple priorities
• Excellent attention to detail
• Ability to work in a team environment
• Willingness to maintain confidential information

TRAVEL AND HOURS

• This position is full-time
• No travel is required with this position
