As a Pathology Support Technician, you will: • Ensure patient safety when accepting specimens from internal hospital departments and external physician clients • Collaborate and partner with professional and clinical staff solving specimen handling issues, including incorrectly submitted specimens with emphasis on minimizing risk to patients • Meet high quality standards in regards to irretrievable nature of patient specimens • Proficiently use and accession specimens using LIS system with high level of precision, i.e., Cerner, Copath, Word, Excel and other customized programs • Monitor and document instrumentation quality assurance records and participate in improvement initiatives • Comprehend instrumentation variances on daily basis, trouble shoot equipment and other quality issues when appropriate • Troubleshoot any issues with specimens for resolution while demonstrating problem solving abilities • Assist with compliance of all professional federal, state, and CAP requirements including all chemical waste management, safety and infection control policies Qualifications include: • High School Diploma or GED required • 0- 1 years of experience • Experience with business software applications including Microsoft applications and major Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) preferred Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm Starting off 40hrs/week then transition into VPT At Adventist HealthCare our job is to care for you.
