Physician - Pathology examines diseases using fluids, body tissue, secretions, etc. to ascertain cause, nature, and extent of disease and to determine effectiveness of treatment. May perform autopsy to ascertain exact cause of death, and source or extent of disease and effects of treatment. Being a Physician - Pathology requires an advanced degree. Requires State License to Practice Medicine. Additionally, Physician - Pathology typically reports to a medical director. Physician - Pathology's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. The active Laboratory Department is CAP-accredited and performs millions of tests annually. The Pathology Assistant will be an integral member of a robust Laboratory team consisting of over 200 staff.
Under the direction of the Pathologist, the Pathologist Assistant is responsible for performing 25-40 cases daily, including high-complexity specimens. In this dynamic role, the Pathology Assistant will support Specimen Photography, Tissue Banking, and Billing as needed. The ideal candidate has extensive experience and is ready to support this collaborative team.
