    The Opportunity

    This role is ideal for a mission driven physician who is passionate about providing care to an underserved population and enjoys mentoring and training residents and medical students. Our team is currently made up of five full-time clinical faculty whose interests include Glaucoma, Retina, Oculoplastics, Comprehensive and Cornea, as well as 2 Optometrists, 9 residents, administrative staff and multiple technicians. This dynamic and growing team of dedicated faculty, residents and staff offers support, collegiality, and mentorship opportunities.

     

    Part-time Highlights:

    • Ability to supplement your income with a commitment of just one shift per week
    • Clinical and educational responsibilities in a robust academic practice.
    • Provide diagnostic and therapeutic services in inpatient and outpatient areas, order diagnostic studies and procedures and perform surgical and non-surgical ophthalmology procedures.

    Full-time Highlights:

    • Educate residents and medical students in comprehensive clinical and surgical ophthalmological care, lead journal clubs and partner in research.
    • Provide diagnostic and therapeutic services in inpatient and outpatient areas, order diagnostic studies and procedures and perform surgical and non-surgical ophthalmology procedures.
    • Supervise Temple’s ophthalmology residents within the eye center, short procedure room, laser room and operating room.
    • Through the use of evidence-based medicine, the faculty will assess, plan, implement, coordinate and evaluate medical education programs at Temple to enhance the educational experience of residents and medical students.

    Candidate Qualifications

    • M.D. or D.O.
    • Successful completion of residency in Ophthalmology from an ACGME-accredited program prior to the start date
    • Fellowship trained in cornea & refractive surgery at an AUPO FCC accredited program
    • Board eligibility or certification in Ophthalmology
    • Ability to obtain an unrestricted medical license & DEA from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania prior to employment
