West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Medicine seek a Medical Director, Transplant Nephrology (ranks available: Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor).
The successful candidates will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV. (Depending on operational needs, a successful candidate may also be assigned to provide services at additional worksites in West Virginia and Pennsylvania. In such instances, travel would be anticipated and expected to fulfill said duties at these additional sites).
WVU Medicine provides comprehensive transplant services to meet the needs of patients in West Virginia and the region. The candidate for this exciting opportunity will provide medical leadership to our renal transplant program.
The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Transplant Nephrology and Nephrology. The Medical Director will work with the Surgical Director to ensure the ongoing clinical operations of the kidney transplant program abiding by the UNOS bylaws and CMS regulations. This will include guidance in the evaluation and planning for the kidney and heart/kidney transplant patients through all the phases of transplantation. They will actively participate in the growth of the program with the other members of the leadership team to include but not limited to Patient Selection Committee, QAPI, strategic planning and research initiatives.
In addition to transplant responsibilities, the faculty member will be expected to practice and support the Nephrology section clinical practice needs on a regular basis. This may include inpatient and outpatient nephrology.
While providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in the teaching of medical students, residents, and fellows, as well as mentors/educates Transplant Staff to the care of the kidney patients and to provide ongoing support
Candidate must have a MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must meet UNOS and OPTN requirements. Candidates must have completed fellowship in nephrology as well as fellowship in transplant nephrology. Candidates must be board certified in internal medicine and certified / eligible in nephrology. Candidates must have at least one year of experience in transplant nephrology. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
WVU Medicine's Kidney transplant program was developed in 2019. This is a growing program with a community outreach need.
