The Position: Within agency policies, under the direct supervision of the Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Program Manager, with oversight and guidance from the Community Health Director and the Health Officer, or their designees, the Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Program Supervisor, in the classification of Program Coordinator 1, provides leadership in the District's Chronic Disease and Injury Prevention Program. This includes direct supervision through guidance, assignment of responsibilities, and review of work to assigned team members. Assigned duties entail program management, integrating research and best practices into specific program areas, ensuring compliance with laws and regulations, and providing program consultation and expertise. This position requires close interaction with other local health jurisdictions and the State Department of Health along with other state and federal agencies, other businesses, agencies, and community groups. Responsibilities are complex in terms of the impact to District operations, visibility, and the level of interaction with external stakeholders and partners. Work is governed generally by broad instructions and objectives usually involving problems requiring considerable judgment, initiative, creativity, and/or ingenuity. This position will support a variety of topics and work closely with program managers. The ideal candidate has a passion for public health, enjoys working with others, brings humility and initiative to their work. This position requires interest and ability to effectively lead groups and work independently on various topics. Skill in project management, effective communication, and staff development is desired. Hours: 40 hours per week – 100% FTE, requires occasional evening and weekend hours. Status: Permanent, full-time position. Benefits: The District offers a comprehensive health benefit plan which includes medical, dental, and life coverages, including several voluntary plan selections through The Standard, Aflac, and Met Life. The District provides medical and dental coverage contributing percentages of the average medical and dental insurance premium costs for full time employees as follows: Employee @ 100%, Employee & Spouse @ 90%, Employee & Child(ren) @ 90%, and Full Family @ 85%. Benefits include generous paid time off, and twelve paid holidays per year. Employees participate in the Public Employees Retirement System (PERS), a defined benefit retirement plan managed by the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems and Social Security. Several deferred compensation retirement savings plans are also offered. Other: After a successful trial service period, generally at least three months, a limited hybrid teleworking agreement may be established as mutually beneficial.Please note: This is a non-represented position and is exempt from the minimum wage and overtime requirement of the Washington Minimum Wage Act and Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).     EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
    Provides direct supervision for programmatic work. This includes preparation of position descriptions, assigning work, and monitoring performance. Provides leadership in programmatic development and outreach.Provides ongoing employee assistance and coaching.Assigns job duties and distributes workload to assure efficiency and proper utilization of staff and resources.Maintains responsibility for quality, quantity, and timeliness of all associated activities.Provides technical assistance, guidance, and advice to District staff and others to address concerns, complaints, and programmatic questions.Establishes policies, procedures, and standards.Identifies methods and approaches to increase collaboration and communication within the team.Collaborates with key stakeholders and community members for programmatic development and support.Supports facilitation of community coalitions, regional programmatic meetings, and additional community events.Works with sub-contractors in programmatic development, implementation, evaluation, and contract development.May participate in recruitment activities.Designs, evaluates, implements, and trains staff on new and existing forms, protocols, and procedures as directed. WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work is performed primarily indoors in an office environment or remotely from home office, with occasional travel to attend meetings, conferences, seminars, etc. Requires the ability to communicate with others orally, face to face and by telephone. Requires manual and finger dexterity and hand-eye-arm coordination to write and to operate computers and a variety of general office equipment. Requires mobility to accomplish other desktop work, retrieve files, and to move to various District locations. Requires visual acuity to read computer screens, printed materials, and detailed information. Essential duties may involve occasional kneeling, squatting, crouching, stooping, crawling, standing, bending, climbing (to stack, store or retrieve supplies or various office equipment). This is an overtime-exempt position, which may require working beyond the normally scheduled workweek, modifying existing work schedules, or flexing hours.May occasionally be required to work a varying schedule which may include evenings and weekends. Requires the ability to alternatively sit and stand for sustained periods of time for customer service transactions. Exposure to individuals from the public who are upset, angry, agitated and sometimes hostile, requiring the use of conflict management and coping skills. Frequently required to perform work in confidence and under pressure for deadlines, and to maintain professional composure and tact, patience, and courtesy at all times. The environment is dynamic and constantly changing, resulting in continually re-evaluating and shifting priorities.Requires the ability to lift and/or carry objects and materials weighing up to fifty pounds.May be required to stay at or return to work during public health incidents and/or emergencies to perform duties specific to this classification or to perform other duties as requested in an assigned response position. This may require working a non-traditional work schedule or working outside normal assigned duties during the incident and/or emergency.
