Physician - Geriatrics specializes in dealing with illness and other complications due to the aging process in the elderly. Ensures proper injury care, disease prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and recovery. Being a Physician - Geriatrics treats disorders that arise due to aging such as Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease. Requests necessary tests, follow-up visits and refers patients to specialists, as necessary. Additionally, Physician - Geriatrics requires a MD degree from an accredited school. Requires a valid state license to practice. May report to a medical director. Physician - Geriatrics's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     - New patient appointments are 40 minutes for the physician.
    - Established patient visits are 30 minutes.
    - Acute visits are 20 minutes.
    - Physicians are likely to never see more than 15-16 patients per day depending on the appointment type.
    - After hours call is shared by 6 providers making the rotation roughly q 6 weeks.
    - After hours call is phone call only as the hospitalist service covers all inpatients.
    - During a one week call rotation (Monday-Monday), there are approximately 20 after hours calls.
    - Providers get a post call day the Monday after their week on call.
    - Senior Health Clinic utilizes an interdisciplinary team including a full time social worker to meet the needs of the older population.
    - There is a patient base of approximately 1200.
    - There are 2 geriatricians as well as 2 APRNs.

Our 435 bed facility serves as the referral center for 23 counties in Northeast Arkansas and Southeast Missouri and a population of just over 620,000.
