POSITION SUMMARY: Valley Medical Group is seeking a Director of Gastroenterology to
join its growing Gastroenterology Practices located in Bergen County. The Director will oversee and guide the strategic direction
of the Gastroenterology division, providing superior clinical leadership,
ensuring adherence to evidence-based practices, implementing best practices in
clinical quality and safety, and enhancing patient care. The ideal
candidate will be hard working, flexible, and a team player with excellent
communication, critical thinking, analytical, and relationship building skills
who enjoys working in a dynamic, community-based hospital and office setting. This

Time allocation: This role will be 80 % clinical and 20 %
administrative.
Primary Administrative Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and execute the
strategic vision to guide expansion of Gastroenterology services and
integrating related operations across the Valley Health System.
Collaborate
with other division heads and hospital leadership to enhance
interdisciplinary care and patient outcomes.
Identify
growth opportunities, implement quality improvement initiatives, and
drive operational efficiency.
Clinical Oversight:
In collaboration with the Chair
of the Service Line, lead the delivery of clinical services including
clinical cost management, utilization, quality assurance, development of
evidence-based initiatives, protocols, and system-based practice
initiatives.
Provide
clinical leadership to a team of gastroenterologists and the office
staff.
Develop areas of clinical
excellence and driving best practices for VMG Gastroenterology and
related disciplines.
Ensure
adherence to evidence-based practices, protocols, and guidelines.
Foster
a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Quality and Safety:
Monitor
and improve clinical quality metrics, patient safety, and patient
satisfaction.
Implement
best practices to enhance patient experience and outcomes.
Address
any issues related to quality assurance and risk management.
Academic and Research
Initiatives:
Provide
oversight of GME programs, residency electives as it pertains to the
Gastroenterology division.
Encourage
participation in clinical trials and research studies.
Promote
scholarly activities and mentorship.
Administrative Duties:
Collaborate
with Chair and service line director in overseeing budgeting, resource
allocation, and financial performance of the division.
Participate
in recruitment, retention, and evaluation of clinical staff.
Ensure
compliance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
Meet regularly with each
gastroenterologist to discuss performance and progress towards achieving
established goals and objectives.
Mentor and supports physicians
and other providers in the division.
Participate in the recruitment
process for new physicians and clinical staff in Gastroenterology.
Facilitate effective
communication between Service Line Leadership and Practice/Department
Staff including change management, policy reminders and or any other
issues needing escalation.
Community Engagement:
Represent
Valley Health System in professional societies, conferences, and
community events.
Provide oversight and
coordination of community engagement initiatives related to VMG
Gastroenterology.
Build strong relationships with referring physicians,
community organizations, and stakeholders.
