Job Summary:
The ER Physician will provide services at a federal facility in a Native American/American Indian community in Gallup, NM. This is a contract position requires a minimum 3 month commitment with potentially 3 extension options based on the needs of the client.
The facility is a 99-bed hospital in Gallup, New Mexico, on the border of the Navajo Reservation. Clinical specialties at include Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Anesthesia, OB/GYN, General Surgery, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Radiology, Pathology, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Emergency Medicine, and Urology. The workload at Gallup is one of the largest in the Indian Health Service with 250,000 outpatient encounters and 5,800 inpatient admissions annually. The facility has the largest staff of all Navajo Area IHS facilities.
The Plateaus and mountains close to Gallup offer opportunities for hiking, backpacking, and camping. There are several national mountains and parks within easy driving distance. Albuquerque, with all the services and cultural events offered in a city its size, is just two hours East of Gallup. There are many choices for cross-country and downhill skiing within 1 to 3 hours of Gallup. The city of Gallup has a population of approximately 23,000.

Emergency Response:
Every Chloeta employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official Duty Station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official Position Description (PD). Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
