Physician - Dermatology jobs in District of Columbia

About the role: The veterinary technician working in the Dermatology service is responsible for performing a wide variety of responsibilities. Their role is to assist the Dermatologist with procedures, client communications, and communication with the coordinator in order to make their day and the client’s experience as seamless as possible. It is crucial that they work as a team with all members of the department and cross-train with the Dermatology Client Coordinator. All Dermatology staff members must be knowledgeable regarding Friendship Hospital For Animals protocols and procedures that impact the day-to-day functions of the Dermatology Service.

Reports directly to: Specialty Services Supervisor

• Work independently under the guidance of the Dermatologist
• Assist and facilitate appointments
• Know what is entailed in all dermatology procedures and how to set up for them
• Enjoys communicating with clients; comfortable taking medical history, communicating discharge information, updating clients)
• Cross-train and fill in for client coordinator’s role
• Be able to field phone calls from clients, schedule dermatology appointments, and refill prescriptions
• Maintain the sanitation and stocking of the dermatology appointment room
• Maintain an appropriate inventory of the dermatology room
• Proper routine care and maintenance of all dermatology equipment
• Follow all policies and procedures as outlined in the Friendship Hospital For Animals Employment Manual.

• Excellent communication skills-- both verbal and written
• Ability to multi-task in a stressful environment
• Ability to speak and hear by phone or in person
• Ability to read, write and type English
• Ability to work as a team player
• Ability to use and learn computers
• Ability to master large volumes of detailed information
