Physician Assistant - Surgical under the direction of physician, performs first assistant surgical duties, including tissue retraction and suturing. Completes pre-op tasks including physical examinations and recording health history. Being a Physician Assistant - Surgical orders appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries Requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Additionally, Physician Assistant - Surgical requires a master's degree of Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Typically reports to a physician. Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Requires State license to practice. Physician Assistant - Surgical's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics Department of Nursing is seeking a Nursing Assistant to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Perform patient personal hygiene such as bathing, toileting, feeding, dressing, grooming and oral care for patients
- Turn, position and ambulate patients
- Assist patients with bedpans, urinals and perineal cleansing
- Take temperature, pulse and blood pressure
- Enter daily patient record charting in computer
- Perform simple diagnostic/therapeutic procedures (i.e., dressing changes)
- Clean equipment, patient bedside area and nursing unit
- Set up rooms for patient admission
- Transport patients by bed, cart or wheelchair
- Transport equipment, specimens and supplies
- Stock and supply patient rooms and Nursing unit
- Perform basic CPR as required
- Maintain patient confidentiality
Percent of Time: 50% - 90%
Schedule: Evening and Night rotating shifts, will include an every third weekend rotation and a holiday rotation
