Physician Assistant - Specialty assesses, plans, and provides patient care in a medical specialty, such as cardiology, neurology, orthopedics, etc. under the supervision of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Being a Physician Assistant - Specialty orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries. Additionally, Physician Assistant - Specialty requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Requires a master's degree in Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Requires State license to practice. Typically reports to a physician. Northwest Specialty Hospital is seeking a compassionate Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Pre-Surgical Team!
This position will be on call one weekend every five weeks!
As a provider for our Pre-Surgical department, you will function as an independent healthcare provider who, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary health team, is responsible for providing comprehensive care to both well and ill patients in an outpatient setting. You will use your clinical expertise in working with patients with acute and chronic illnesses.
In this role you will use the scientific process and national standards of care as a framework for managing patient care. You will make an assessment of a patient’s health status, make a diagnosis, develop a treatment plan, implement a plan that is consistent with the appropriate plan of care, follow up and evaluate the patient’s status, educate patient and/or patient’s family, provide continuity of competent care, and you will support research that supports evidence based practice specific to your patient population focus, as well as in the areas of pharmacology, disease prevention, epidemiology, medical technology and more.
