Physician Assistant - Orthopedics assesses, plans, and provides patient care under the supervision of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Being a Physician Assistant - Orthopedics orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, counsels on preventative care, assists in surgery, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries. Additionally, Physician Assistant - Orthopedics requires a master's degree in Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Typically reports to a Physician. Physician Assistant - Orthopedics's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Rebound is the largest orthopedic and neurosurgical practice in the Portland-Vancouver area with an array of sub-specialties including orthopedics, brain and spine care, sports medicine, physiatry, and physical therapy.

    We are headquartered in Southwest, Washington just across the river from Portland, Oregon and a 90-minute drive to either the beach or mountains. Hiking trails, parks, excellent schools, arts and culture, fine dining and food carts are abundant in our region.


    We are hiring for an Orthopedic Trauma PA position. The Trauma PA will join a group of 5 other PAs and will rotate regularly through the following trauma team roles: Call, Floor, Resource, Clinic, and Rounds. The ideal candidate will be passionate about patient care, have excellent communication, problem solving, and decision making skills. 

    Responsibilities:

    • Provide direct patient care to include, but not limited to, examinations, physicals, diagnosis, and documenting patient medical data and health histories.
    • Perform therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, wound care, and managing infection.
    • Provide acute and chronic care according to protocol. Monitor effective therapy.
    • Administer or order appropriate diagnostic and laboratory tests. Interpret and convey test results.
    • Develop and implement appropriate care management plan.
    • Respond to medical emergencies including CPR.
    • Triage patient phone calls to facilitate patient care delivery.
    • Educate patients and families in regards to therapeutic regimens, surgery and procedures, pre and post-operative care, and other relevant information.
    • Demonstrate positive and effective written and verbal communication skills with patients, families and co-workers.
    • Document clear, concise and accurate clinical information in the patient record in a timely manner.
    • Maintain, interpret and apply basic clinical practice statistics.
    • Demonstrate efficient management of time and resources. Consult with other staff as appropriate.
    • Adhere to practice standards and PA code of ethics.
    • Utilize and conduct research/inquiry appropriate to clinical setting.
    • Provide leadership by serving as role model and resource.
    • Attend and participate in required meetings.
    • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and abide by all HIPAA rules and regulations.
    • Adhere to, and enforce, policies and procedures.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

    Required:
    • Minimum of 1 year experience as a Physician's Assistant in Orthopedics.
    • Bachelor's degree required, MS preferred. 
    • Graduate of physician assistant training program that is accredited and approved by CAHEA, CAAHEP, and/or ARC-PA.
    • Current Washington and Oregon PA license. 
    • Certified through National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
    • BLS or ACLS certified.
    • Current DEA License and NPI number is required. 
    • Excellent customer service skills, organizational skills, and attention to detail. 
    • Ability to work effectively with patients and co-workers.
