Physician Assistant - Orthopedics jobs in Maine
Physician Assistant - Orthopedics assesses, plans, and provides patient care under the supervision of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Being a Physician Assistant - Orthopedics orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, counsels on preventative care, assists in surgery, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries. Additionally, Physician Assistant - Orthopedics requires a master's degree in Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Typically reports to a Physician. Physician Assistant - Orthopedics's years of experience requirement may be unspecified. The Physician Assistant (PA) also known as Advanced Practice Provider (APP) provides primary care to patients under the supervision of the Supervising Physician in the clinic following established standards and practices.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Education: Successful completion of an approved Physician Assistant program with a Master’s Degree level of education is preferred.

License/Certifications: Current license issued by the State of Maine as Physician Assistant with SMHC supervising physician required. Current certification as PA-C required. BLS certification is required.

Experience: Three or more years of experience in a physician office setting preferred.

Good communication and interpersonal skills.

Unit specific criteria desired based on specialty. See unit specific statement of clinical competency.
