Physician Assistant - Orthopedics assesses, plans, and provides patient care under the supervision of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Being a Physician Assistant - Orthopedics orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, counsels on preventative care, assists in surgery, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries. Additionally, Physician Assistant - Orthopedics requires a master's degree in Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Typically reports to a Physician. Physician Assistant - Orthopedics's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Duties:

    • Answer phone calls and address patient inquiries or direct them to the appropriate department
    • Verify insurance coverage and obtain necessary authorizations for medical services
    • Maintain patient records and update electronic medical records (EMR) system with accurate information
    • Assist with medical billing and coding tasks as needed
    • Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain patient confidentiality
    • Room Patients
    • Take and input vitals
    • Order Labs/Diagnostic Imaging for Patients
    • Follow-up and monitor patient care
    • Any other ancillary tasks as assigned by the provider

    Experience:

    • Previous experience as a medical assistant or in a similar role within a medical office setting preferred
    • Familiarity with medical terminology, procedures, and documentation
    • Knowledge of electronic medical records systems, such as eClinicalWorks or Epic
    • Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with patients, staff, and healthcare professionals
    • Proficient in using computer systems and electronic medical records (EMR)
    • Ability to multitask, prioritize tasks, and work in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to Critically think

    Note:

    Experience as a dental receptionist or in an emergency room (ER) setting may also be considered relevant experience for this position. No experience is required but you must be able to articulate why your skills from other types of positions are transferable.
