Physician Assistant - Emergency & Trauma assesses, plans, and provides patient care to patients in an emergency and trauma unit under the supervision of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Being a Physician Assistant - Emergency & Trauma orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries. Additionally, Physician Assistant - Emergency & Trauma requires a master's degree in Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Physician Assistant - ED Observation Unit – Nocturnist Position
Centra Lynchburg General Hospital has an opportunity for a PA to work in our Emergency Department Observation Unit.
Nocturnist shift - 10pm - 8am - weekends and holidays in rotation.
Full-time – 36 hours/week
Our Level II Trauma Center sees approximately 90,000 patients/year and is the 2nd busiest ED in the state of Virginia.
The EDO staff will admit ED patients for observation for further testing based on their symptoms. Focusing on a thorough, efficient evaluation and determination for safe discharge vs admission. Will work closely with our specialty services when indicated.
PA experience is highly desired or acute care experience.
