Physician Assistant - Emergency & Trauma assesses, plans, and provides patient care to patients in an emergency and trauma unit under the supervision of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Being a Physician Assistant - Emergency & Trauma orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries. Additionally, Physician Assistant - Emergency & Trauma requires a master's degree in Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Requires State license to practice. Typically reports to a physician. Physician Assistant - Emergency & Trauma's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     Under the supervision of a physician provides direct diagnostic, therapeutic, and preventive health care services.
     
    Job Responsibilities
    • Obtains patient history and performs assessment via observation, interview, and examination.
    • Orders, performs, and interprets diagnostic procedures.
    • Provides direct treatment and management of health conditions via prescriptive authority or referral to other healthcare providers or community resources.
    • Provides counseling and education of patients and their families/caregivers concerning preventative health, treatment options, and community resources.
    • May be required to perform preventative health assessments, screening, immunizations, and care.
    • Provides accurate and timely documentation of assessment and patient care plan.
    • May coordinate the registration functions including collecting and entering demographic, insurance, employer information, and co-payments.
    • May assist in operating room.
    Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies required upon hire OR
    • Bachelor's degree or higher in related field required upon hire
    • No experience required
    • Physician Asst - Current licensure as a Physician Assistant in the state of Kentucky required upon hire AND
    • NCCPA - National Physician Assistant certification through National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants required upon hire
