Physician Assistant - Emergency & Trauma assesses, plans, and provides patient care to patients in an emergency and trauma unit under the supervision of a physician. Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examinations, and compiles patient medical data, including health history and results of physical examination. Being a Physician Assistant - Emergency & Trauma orders and interprets appropriate laboratory and radiographic tests. Participates in daily patient rounds, writes progress notes, conducts patient education, writes prescriptions, and prepares discharge summaries. Additionally, Physician Assistant - Emergency & Trauma requires a master's degree in Health Sciences for Physician Assistants or related. Requires completion of the PANCE exam administered by National Commission of the Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA). Requires Certified Physician Assistant (PA-C). Requires State license to practice. Typically reports to a physician. Physician Assistant - Emergency & Trauma's years of experience requirement may be unspecified.     **This position will work Wednesday-Saturday 9a-7p**

    ***At least ONE YEAR of veterinary assistant experience is REQUIRED to be considered for this role!***

    Overall Responsibility: ER Assistants provide excellent technical skills and a strong knowledge of emergency procedures in vet medicine.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    • Prepare exam rooms for each visit, including tools needed for each exam.
    • Retrieve patient charts from client services or referring department on behalf of the technicians when asked.
    • Obtain other vitals, lab work, and diagnostics as needed per doctors or technician orders.
    • Perform and assist with all aspects of animal restraint for exams and procedures.
    • Care for hospitalized patients - administer medications, monitor vital signs, other duties as ordered by the treating veterinarian or treating ER technician
    • Clean kennels, runs, wet tables and all other areas of the treatment area and hospital as needed.
    • Assist in Ultrasound if needed.
    • Laundry
    • Basic grooming as needed.
    • Other duties as needed.

    Educational Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent required. At least 1 year of animal experience preferred.

    Physical Requirements: Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. This job is physically active and requires frequent bending. It also requires routine lifting and restraining of animals in excess of 50 pounds.
