Are you a motivated Software Developer/Scientific Programmer with an active Top Secret clearance looking to join a dynamic team?
Leidos is hiring a Software Developer/Scientific Programmer to join our US National Data Center (US NDC) team at the Air Force Technical Application Center (AFTAC) on Patrick Space Force Base, Florida. This person will design, develop, integrate, and test software R&D solutions to improve the geophysical detection, association, evaluation, and characterization of natural and anthropogenic events.
The US NDC is the geophysical data acquisition, data processing, reporting, and archiving component of the United States Atomic Energy Detection System (USAEDS) by AFTAC. AFTAC's mission is to monitor compliance with nuclear test ban treaties by acquiring, processing, reporting, and archiving data from a worldwide array of seismic, hydroacoustic and infrasonic sensors.
Primary Responsibilities:
Design and implement software solutions to scientific data processing problems.
Integrate scientific processes, methodologies, and algorithms into legacy US NDC software. Algorithms could be machine learning algorithms. Algorithms may be developed in-house or by external third-parties.
Test software integration in both automated and interactive processing modes.
Troubleshoot and debug legacy software.
Evaluate software performance.
Basic Qualifications:
BS in CS, Mathematics, Geophysics or related field with 4 years of experience OR a MS in one of these fields with 2 years of related experience.
Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility
DoD 8570 IAT Level II certification (such as Security ) or willingness to achieve within 6 months of hire
Experience integrating algorithms into operational software.
Proficient in programming in one or more of the following languages: C, C , Scheme, Fortran, Python
Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and proficient at scripting within RHEL.
Fluent with computing and evaluation tools such as MATLAB or Octave.
Knowledge in data processing areas such as digital signal processing, spectral analysis, and uncertainty estimation.
Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills to work in a team environment, including customer and contractor technical team members, end users, and management.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with SQL and querying databases.
Experience with Machine Learning and/or AI algorithms, python libraries, and geophysical frameworks, such as deep neural networks, PyTorch, and SeisBench.
Familiar with configuration management/version control systems and problem tracking systems (ClearCase or GitLab).
Experience performing data cleanup to include removing corrupted data and fixing coding errors.
