Pharmacy Technician Supervisor oversees the work of a team of Pharmacy Technicians that assist Pharmacists with the dispensing of medical prescriptions. Monitors daily activities and manages work schedules to ensure that quality, production and customer service standards are maintained. Being a Pharmacy Technician Supervisor may hire, train, and evaluate new employees. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Additionally, Pharmacy Technician Supervisor typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Typically requires Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/ production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Thorough knowledge of department processes. Summary: Pharmacy Technician that will process and fill prescriptions. You will undertake other tasks under the direction of a pharmacist to provide excellent customer service and ensure the pharmacy runs smoothly. As a pharmacy technician you must be detail-oriented and reliable since the job has high responsibility. You must possess excellent communication skills as well as aptitude in using computers.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Pharmacist in reviewing, processing, preparing, filling, labeling and dispensing of medications, supplies and provision of pharmaceutical care, etc.
- Process prescriptions electronically and ensure all information is complete and accurate
- Prior authorization
- Resolve issues when they arise (e.g. rejected insurance claims)
- Sort, stock, label medication and monitor inventory
- Undertake administrative tasks (e.g.record-keeping) as assigned
- Comply with all security measures and quality standards
Skills
- Proven experience as pharmacy technician (preferred)
- Experience with PioneerRX is a plus
- Knowledge of medication and dosage measurement (preferred)
- Knowledge of pharmacy law and medical terminology (preferred)
- Excellent communication and customer service skills
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Reliable with a keen eye for detail
- Successful completion of a pharmacy technician program (preferred)
- Certified Pharmacy technician is an asset (preferred)
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $14.00 - $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
