Pharmacy Technician assists a registered pharmacist with support activities and processes required to dispense medical prescriptions. Collects, inputs, and verifies prescription, refill, and patient information. Being a Pharmacy Technician receives and stocks incoming supplies. May prepare labels and routine prepacked orders. Additionally, Pharmacy Technician may be expected to perform some clerical duties relating to the department. Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. May require Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT). The Pharmacy Technician possesses a moderate understanding of general aspects of the job. Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Pharmacist, the Pharmacy Technician assists in labeling, preparing and filling of prescriptions up to the point of final check. The Pharmacy Technician maintains inventory, makes routine deliveries, interviews patients, enters information into the computer system, completes requisitions, packs medications and reviews prescriptions for completeness. The Technician also dispenses medications to patients and refers patients to the Pharmacist for consultation.
