  • GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

    The Highlands County Clerk of Circuit Court & Comptroller’s Information Technology (IT) Service Desk Support Team oversees all facets of end-user technology and assistance across various county offices, including the Clerk of Circuit Court & Comptroller, Board of County Commissioners, Supervisor of Elections, and Tax Collector. Their responsibilities encompass providing hardware and software support for computers and associated devices like printers and scanners, managing user accounts, assisting with software applications, and training users, among other duties.

    The Support Specialist assumes the responsibility of answering incoming phone calls, conducting initial analysis of work orders, and offering solutions whenever feasible. They diligently document reported work orders and allocate them to appropriate team members. Moreover, they uphold a standard of consistent, high-quality customer experience while addressing problems or requests. Additionally, the role involves monitoring and prioritizing unassigned work orders and aiding users in resolving recurring, known issues.

    Furthermore, the Support Specialist will also strive to maintain consistency in data across various Information Technology applications and documentation.

    This position is Disaster Essential and will require the employee to report to duty before, during and after a civil emergency.

    ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

    1. Maintain a courteous demeanor and positive attitude when interacting with customers.

    2. Gather information from callers and record relevant data.

    3. Keep records of all customer interactions.

    4. Adhere to defined procedures when addressing customer-reported work orders.

    5. Document in detail all steps taken to resolve customer concerns.

    6. Assign or escalate work orders to the relevant team member as necessary.

    7. Participate in required training seminars and staff meetings.

    8. Promptly report any potential issues or escalations to the immediate supervisor.

    9. Be flexible with scheduling, as overtime may be required at times.

    10. Resolve end-user issues remotely using appropriate remote access tools.

    11. Escalate complex or time-consuming issues to the appropriate Support Analyst.

    12. Utilize Active Directory to manage user accounts.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    • Proficient in spoken and written English communication.
    • Demonstrates excellent customer service orientation.
    • Possesses knowledge of computer operation, adjustment, and maintenance.
    • Ability to adapt quickly and effectively to changing situations.
    • Self-motivated and proactive, with a willingness to take initiative and learn.
    • Proficient in computer keyboarding, handling multiple monitors, and using touchpad interfaces.
    • Capable of organizing work, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
    • Demonstrates effective time management skills.
    • Exhibits strong analytical abilities.
    • Detail-oriented in approach to tasks.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Graduation from an accredited high school or GED
    • Two (2) years direct work experience or graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate Degree, preferred.
    • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a customer-facing role.

    {A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the above minimum qualifications.}

    Physical Requirements:

    • Ability to sit at a desk and view a display screen for extended periods of time
    • Adequate eyesight (with or without correction)
    • Ability to access, input, and retrieve information from a computer
    • Adequate hearing (with or without hearing aid)

    • Sit for extended periods of time and lift and carry objects in excess of 10 pounds

    Pay: $30,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year
