Pharmacy Purchasing Agent liaisons between buyers and manufacturer's representatives to ensure that the organization purchases pharmaceuticals, supplies and equipment that meet quality standards while minimizing costs. Ensures adequate levels of drugs and supplies are available in the inpatient and outpatient pharmacies and that purchases do not exceed budget. Being a Pharmacy Purchasing Agent requires a high school diploma. Requires certification as a pharmacy technician and licensure from the State Board of Pharmacy. Additionally, Pharmacy Purchasing Agent typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Pharmacy Purchasing Agent occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Hours: Monday-Friday 8am to 5pm (1 hour lunch)
General Purpose: To compile information and records to prepare purchase orders.
Supervision Received: Works under the Architecture & Purchasing Manager.
Supervision Exercised: NONE

Work Environment: Temperature controlled office environment. The noise level is moderately quiet.
