Pharmacy Purchasing Agent liaisons between buyers and manufacturer's representatives to ensure that the organization purchases pharmaceuticals, supplies and equipment that meet quality standards while minimizing costs. Ensures adequate levels of drugs and supplies are available in the inpatient and outpatient pharmacies and that purchases do not exceed budget. Being a Pharmacy Purchasing Agent requires a high school diploma. Requires certification as a pharmacy technician and licensure from the State Board of Pharmacy. The purchasing associate will report to the Senior Manager of Purchasing, and is responsible for performing, and the successful completion, of all purchasing-related functions. These functions include, but are not limited to:
· Receiving, sorting, and storing daily inventory in an organized manner
· Ordering inventory from multiple sources to support pharmacy operations
· Processing returns for credit
· Refilling operational supply from overstock inventory
· Logging and tracking purchases from external suppliers
· Ensure all invoices and other paperwork are provided to Accounts Payable
The purchasing department supports a seven-day a week operation that runs from 8am-8pm. As such, the position may be required to work the morning shift, the afternoon shift, and weekends. In addition, because the Purchasing department is responsible for inventory management, the position is also required to participate in the quarterly physical inventory counts, which are scheduled on Saturday evenings three times per year.
The purchasing associate is responsible for interacting professionally with our colleagues in Operations, with coworkers in Purchasing, and with suppliers.
This position involves physical activity. Candidates must be able lift up to 30 pounds, and maneuver pallet jacks within the warehouse. This represents approximately 30% of each day.
