Pharmacy Purchasing Agent jobs in Indiana
Pharmacy Purchasing Agent liaisons between buyers and manufacturer's representatives to ensure that the organization purchases pharmaceuticals, supplies and equipment that meet quality standards while minimizing costs. Ensures adequate levels of drugs and supplies are available in the inpatient and outpatient pharmacies and that purchases do not exceed budget. Being a Pharmacy Purchasing Agent requires a high school diploma. Requires certification as a pharmacy technician and licensure from the State Board of Pharmacy. Additionally, Pharmacy Purchasing Agent typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. The Pharmacy Purchasing Agent occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. THE JOB DESCRIPTION: The Purchasing Agent – Procurement and Logistics reports directly to the Director of Purchasing. The position is responsible for vendor negotiations with suppliers and trade partners, reviewing terms and conditions, establishing pricing, contract formulation, and any supplier management conditions affecting projects and services in coordination with Project Managers.
WHAT YOU DO: The duties and primary responsibilities below are intended to describe the general content and requirements of this job and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties.
- Coordinate with Project Managers and Purchasing Manager on project needs, contract administration, and purchasing timelines
- Solicit subcontractor/vendor proposals for services and/or materials, and evaluate against scope, specifications requirements and budgets
- Audit and analyze existing trades and suppliers, on a regular basis, to ensure best price and pursue cost saving opportunities as they arise; target bid and negotiate as needed
- Maintain and track purchased items in terms of supplier responsiveness, product cost, delivery, performance, and current inventory
- Prepare complete and accurate documentation in executing purchase orders and subcontracts including data entry into Epicor; maintain logs to track purchasing progress of active project materials including backorder status
- Perform research and resolve trade partner disputes, including product or pricing issues, and invoice and contract discrepancies; communicate product and pricing changes to Program Manager, Construction, and other team members as appropriate
- Facilitate, organize, and monitor shipments of materials (packers, etc.)
- Authorize payment for purchases
- Monitor and follow applicable laws and regulations related to purchasing and contracts
- Other duties as assigned or needed
- High school diploma or GED and 2 years prior purchasing experience
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral
- Ability to understand and negotiate contract agreements
- Problem-solving mindset, organizational abilities, and logical thinking skills
- Ability to work in a team environment and/or independently on multiple projects at the same time
- Basic knowledge of general construction contracting requirements
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel and Word primarily)
- Strong work ethic, organized, reliable and punctual; flexibility and willingness to accept changes in priorities as necessar
